“This restaurant is under new ownership and is far better than it was before. I hope people will remove their negative reviews for the former owners and give these people a chance. The former restaurant was awful and I have avoided Northwood for years. I heard that the restaurant was under new ownership and that they know what they are doing. The river really needed a good family restaurant for dinner in the area. There are some good high-priced options but they aren’t family friendly and not at a good price point. I was very impressed by my recent visit. While they did have a dinner special menu, I ordered a grilled cheese off the regular menu. It was delicious and came with a mountain of fries. My sister and mom ordered burgers. They were different burgers and were both juicy and delicious and cooked to their specifications. (One was well-done, the other med-rare). They have a very nice and colorful outdoor seating area in front with a beautiful view of the redwood-filled golf course. The food is very well-priced and the service is very good and friendly. I am so happy Northwood is back on track because it is in a lovely location and is very needed.”

“I LOVE the NEW Northwood Restaurant! The breakfast was great! I wish they carried gluten free bread however! We had a seasoned waitress and she gave us “royal” service! Plenty to eat, perfect prices and the food was hot in a timely manner! Love the new bar seating – oh so comfortable! My only suggestion? Dump the plastic palms – they detract from the beauty of the golf course! Otherwise, they can count on my return for more meals!”

Nice variety on the menu, decent prices and friendly service. I eat out a lot and it is so easy to grow tired of the limited food choices of many Russian river restaurants. Northwood has a refreshing assortment of menu choices that is really appealing. Their regular menu has a lot of good stuff and then they have a hand written sheet of “specials” that usually has almost a dozen or more options. Clearly their chef is versatile and likes to mix it up. ”

Their chili is inexpensive and delicious. The burgers and steaks have been a hit with everyone. I even had the enchiladas last time and it was super yummy. The kids love the milkshakes.
Sometimes this place can be a ghost town but don’t let that scare you off yet other times, like when they did a Karaoke event a few weeks back it was packed. They have four TVs throughout with sports on and a small fire place in the middle. In the off season you might call ahead if you want to eat close to closing time as they will sometimes shut down before scheduled if no one is there.

“We were treated to a pleasant and tasty lunch at Northwood. The interior of the place was really nice,with large glass everywhere-the better to view the gorgeous redwoods. Our service was excellent and between us we had a chili-cheese burger, chicken salad(on greens) and a mushroom burger with fries. I also had iced tea(unsweetened) and a tasty cherry cobbler. I took home half of the dessert and a good feeling about Northwood. There was a great-looking bar,with several tv’s,which was not intrusive to our lunch time talk. Seems like a good spot for a bite-breakfast sounded good,too.”

“My husband Kids and I came here for dinner last night. The food was great and the staff was hustlin. The new owners are very friendly and are working hard to make sure you are happy with your food and service. I ordered the Salmon Salad that was on the Special menu and it was great! the salad was huge and with two big fillets of salmon for a great price. My husband got the Rib Eye with Polenta and Succotash and said it was the best Polenta he has had. I am definitely looking forward to coming out here again.” Chelsea S., Cotati

“Wow! What a difference since the new ownership. We used to love coming here years ago, but stopped because it became just horrible. Now we went back last Sunday for Brunch because our neighbors said it was really good now. Boy, they weren’t kidding. The place itself has always been so beautiful with the view of the redwood trees on the golf course. And the restaurant itself is so lovely with that beautiful lodge feeling. There is a big bar, plus a lot of tables, & booths, & outside tables also.
Our waitress Kim was exceptional. Friendly, & great service. The food was very good. They had a chili Relleno casserole that was sold out, but I will get there earlier next time to try it. This time I had prime rib, & eggs for brunch, while my hubby had sausage, eggs, home style potatoes & toast. Everything was delicious, & the bar offers all kinds of drinks. I checked out the menu for dinner, & it looks great so we will be coming back often since we live close by.
So happy to have this restaurant back at the top of my list! They have takeout too!”

“My husband and I decided to try Northwood for a Sunday breakfast and were impressed by the prompt & friendly service, the extensive breakfast menu selections and delicious food! The omelettes we had were fluffy and delicious and portions were generous. Although there were TVs in the restaurant, they were either not on or muted (which we appreciated!) The view of the redwoods and the golf course is beautiful and we will definitely return! We’re interested in what dinner will be like!”

After searching for a few days for a restaurant that offered a variety of options, we stumbled upon Northwood. Wow! What a gem!! This is the only place in this area worth going to. They had at least 8 specials on top of an entire menu of options. Breakfast served all day as well. The portions are huge for the price. My mum got fresh salmon. Two huge fillets of fresh salmon, mash potatoes, veggies AND soup or salad all for $15!! Their green salad was really good, included fresh artichoke hearts! The staff is friendly and super hard working!! This place definitely deserves every star possible!! So if you find yourself stuck in this nowhere town, this is its one and only saving grace!"

“The new Northwood Restaurant is an amazing upgrade from the old. We came here for hamburgers. The quality of the hamburgers, salad were excellent. The portions of the food were more than ample for the price. There is a gourmet menu as well. The service was personal & informative. Being adjacent to Northwood Golf Course, this restaurant at its reasonable prices with a well stocked bar is an excellent spot for a post round meal.”
